VIRGINIA MYERS

JERSEYVILLE   -  Virginia Irene Myers, 90, died at 4:20 a.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Bates City, Missouri on March 8, 1935 and was one of eleven children born to William H. and Viola (Grover) Kuehnel.

Virginia graduated in 1953 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, and several months later on December 5, 1953 she married the love of her life, Rev. Clyde Myers at the Delhi Baptist Church.  Together they were blessed with nearly 68 years of love and devotion, raising their children and watching their family grow into grandchildren and great grandchildren.    The two were a perfect match and were virtually inseparable until his death on September 27, 2021.

Their married life began in Delhi, where they began their family, until moving to Carrollton, where Clyde was called to pastor at Believers Baptist Church on Woody Road.  They remained there until 2001, when they moved to Cottage Hills, when he became pastor at Cottage Hills Baptist Church.   Regardless of their location, she was steadfast in her devotion to her family, her church, and being a supportive and dependable pastors wife.

Surviving are her four children and their spouses, Dennis Myers of Jerseyville, Mark Alan Myers of Godfrey, John and Jennifer Myers of Jerseyville, and Lori Ann and Jason Custer of Wood River; Eight Grandchildren, Lea (Josh Zuidema) Eveans, Melissa (Scott) Schaefer, Jessy (Star Grandchild) Myers, Drew Myers, Gracie Myers, Sara (Jason Huntsman) Custer, Cody (Erinn) Custer and Nathan Custer; seven great grandchildren, Rolen, Kennedy, Mason, Olivia, Hadley, Hazel and Rory; two brothers, James (Madeleine) Kuehnel and Jake Kuehnel both of Jerseyville; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Norma Kuehnel and James "Jiggs" Kallal, Wanda (Theron) Ridenbark all of Jerseyville and Mary Kuehnel of Godfrey; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death an infant daughter, Barbara Ann Myers; three sisters, Helen Bounds, Edith Scott, and Opal Kallal; and five brothers, Edward, Eugene, Thomas, William and Robert Kuehnel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Delhi Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Warix officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to either Delhi Baptist Church of March of Dimes.
