Tammy Simpson Obituary

TAMMY SIMPSON

DOW – Tammy Sue Simpson, 58, passed away at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born on April 27, 1962 in Jerseyville and was the daughter of the late Leroy “Mac” and Glenna Belle (DeSherlia) McCoy and was raised, along with her siblings, in Grafton.

She married Alan Keith Simpson Sr. on February 14, 1983 in Grafton and their marriage was blessed with 33 years and two children, prior to his death on October 18, 2016.

Tammy was hard working and worked for a number of years at Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton; Lockhaven Country Club in Godfrey and spent many years as a dedicated employee of the Do Drop Inn in Dow. She was currently employed as a Housekeeper at Principia College in Elsah for the past 6 years.

Tammy was one-of-a-kind and lived her life with a free spirit, a kind heart and a desire to support those around her. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed traveling with her many friends throughout the years. No matter where she went or the company she was in, she made the most of it and always had a good time. She was a loving mother and an even more amazing grandmother. Even in her final moments here on Earth, she was singing and dancing and embracing life.

Surviving are a son, Alan Simpson Jr.; a daughter, Lisa Simpson, and her longtime companion, Ryan Lee, all of Dow; four grandchildren, Karli Beiser, Rylee Lee, Dalton Simpson and Zachary Hess; two sisters and a brother in-law, Melody Rowling and Tina and Matthew Hetizman, all of Jerseyville; as well as two brothers, Donnie and Tony McCoy, both of Grafton.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Clara Belle Simpson; a sister, Cindy McCoy; two brothers, William and Gary McCoy; as well as a sister in-law, Carmen McCoy.

Per her wishes, cremation rights will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
