SUSAN MATTERN

GODFREY - Susan Marie Mattern, 66, passed away at 9:37 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Evercare of Jerseyville.

She was born on March 31, 1959, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of the late Robert and Janice (Bunte) Hill, Sr.

Susan was employed as a crew member at McDonald’s, where she enjoyed staying busy and connecting with those around her. In her free time, she found comfort and joy in reading and creating art, watching western movies, and rarely went anywhere without a Mountain Dew in hand.

She is survived by three children, Robert (Amber) Huntsman of Houston, Texas, Michael Mattern of Brighton, and Samantha (Donta Hill) Mattern of Jerseyville; five grandchildren, King Hill, Molly Huntsman, Logan Huntsman, Alianna Huntsman, and Connor Huntsman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Susan Hill, Jr. of Jerseyville and Richard and Jeanie Hill of Jacksonville, Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Sonny’s Bar and Grill in Brighton from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.
