STEVE RUSSELL

KANE -  Steven Lee Russell, 64, died peacefully at 1:22 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at his residence.

He was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on June 22, 1960, one of three children born to James Lee and Mary Jane (Stevens) Russell.

Steve graduated in 1978 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, and immediately began working in agriculture.  His work passion led him into several different entrepreneurial opportunities throughout the years. He began, as well as, expanded numerous business ventures, including Russell Ag Applications, Total Lawn Care and Total Hauling & Excavating.  His dedication to his work as well as his customers was unmatched.

As hard as he worked, he also found plenty of time to have a good time. Some might even say, a good time followed Steve. He was blessed with many friends along the way and considered himself a lucky man to have always been surrounded by those closest to him.

He married the former Donna Wagenblast on January 6, 1989, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and together they have shared 35 years of marriage.

Surviving is his wife, Donna Russell of Kane; two children, Patrick Russell of Kane, and Cyrena Russell of Hardin; stepdaughter, Christina Isringhausen of Tacoma, WA.; a brother and sister in-law, Brad and Melody Russell of Jerseyville; a sister, Sheila Schmieder of Jerseyville; along with his father in-law and mother in-law, Walter and Marilyn Wagenblast of Jerseyville as well as the rest of the Wagenblast clan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant niece, Samantha Russell, and his grandparents, Herschel and Florence Russell and Roger and Marjorie Stevens.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville.

Burial will be in Tribble Cemetery in Piasa.

Memorials may be given to Tribble Cemetery, Jerseyville Park and Recreation Department for a Tree to be planted at Wock Lake or to a fund to assist in the placement of a headstone at his gravesite, both in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
