SHAWN NASH
JERSEYVILLE – Shawn Louis Nash, 50, passed away at 4:53 a.m., Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Brighton, following a brief and strong-willed battle with cancer.
Born on November 23, 1973 in Jerseyville, Shawn was the son of Darrell Theodore and Deloris June (Burgess) Nash.
He grew up in Jerseyville, alongside his two sisters, in a loving and supportive home. Shawn was a 1992 graduate of Jersey Community High School, where he formed many lasting friendships.
Shawn was married to the former Jennifer Ingram, and together they were blessed with two children, Ashlynn and Colton, raising them in Brighton, where Shawn resided for many years.
He had a passion for carpentry, spending his adult life working in the construction field. Over the years, Shawn worked as a skilled carpenter both as a member of local carpenter’s union and through his own business ventures. He owned and operated Nash Construction for a time and co-owned DDS Homes, showcasing his talent and dedication to his craft.
Outside of work, Shawn found true peace and joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers, and always dreamed of living off the land, surrounded by nature’s serenity. Shawn was known for his stubbornness at times and strong will, living life on his own terms right to the very end. His family finds comfort in knowing that Shawn accepted Jesus into his heart before his passing, and they take solace in the belief that he was welcomed into heaven by his father with a smile and a “welcome home.”
Shawn is survived by his mother, June Nash of Frisco, Texas (formerly of Jerseyville); a daughter and son in-law, Ashlynn and Doug Grizzle of Godfrey; a son, Colton Nash of Brighton; a grandson, DJ Grizzle; two sisters and brothers in-law, Missy and Doug Stellhorn of Jerseyville and Patty and Mark Kallal of Frisco, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Nash on December 10, 2022; as well as his grandparents, Benjamin Franklin and Sylvia Hester (Tucker) Nash and Louis Franklin and Oma Ellen (Mayberry) Burgess.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Shawn’s birthday, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at LifechurchX, 300 Bluebird Lane, in Jerseyville from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
