REGINALD “DENNY” DENNIS FERGUSON

JERSEYVILLE - Reginald “Denny” Dennis Ferguson, 86, of Jerseyville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville.

Denny was born on August 28, 1939, in Alton, Illinois, to Alice Hooley (née Breckon) and Thomas Roe Ferguson. He grew up in Jerseyville and was a proud graduate of Jersey Community High School, Class of 1958, where he lettered in football and basketball. He continued to support JCHS throughout his life as a founding member of “Back the Pac” and by coaching the high school trapshooting team.

On February 13, 1960, he married the love of his life, Marian “Toni” Liles, in Carrollton, Illinois. Together they raised two children, played many rounds of golf, and traveled the world with close friends, building a lifetime of memories along the way.

Denny was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local #553 for nearly 50 years. He was known for being generous with his time and always willing to help friends, and he was one of several community members who donated their time to Donor’s Swimming Pool for the benefit of the community. He was passionate about trap shooting, sporting clays, and golf, and he could often be found enjoying coffee at Hardee’s, catching up with friends and neighbors. 

Above all, he deeply loved his grandsons and was incredibly proud of them, always asking, “How are my boys doing?”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Toni; his sister, Joyce Wilson; his brother-in-law, Donald Wilson Sr.; his son, Craig “Ferg” Ferguson and his grandson, Cooper Dietz.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Ferguson-Dietz, and her husband, Thomas Dietz, and by his grandsons, Connor Dietz and Colin Dietz, all of Mill Valley, California. He is also survived by his niece, Nancy Wiegand (Danny), and nephew, Donald Wilson Jr., both of Wood River, Illinois. 

He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

The family is grateful to Joyce, Cindy, and Lacey and all the staff at Jerseyville Manor for their great care.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, Illinois. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 18, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Carrollton Cemetery in Carrollton, Illinois.
