NATHAN VANDYGRIFF

JERSEYVILLE – Nathan J. Vandygriff, 43, passed away unexpectedly at 12:22 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at his home.

Born on February 26, 1981, in Wood River, Illinois, Nathan was lovingly raised by his adoptive parents, Joseph T. “Pat” and Nolie Mae (Scott) Vandygriff. Throughout his life, Nathan demonstrated a remarkable intelligence and a passion for learning. A proud graduate of Southwestern High School, he was a self-proclaimed bookworm who possessed an incredible wealth of knowledge on a wide range of topics.

Nathan’s love for stories extended beyond books, as he also enjoyed anime, embracing its rich storytelling and imaginative worlds. Whether exploring fantastical realms or engaging in the latest video games, Nathan found joy in hobbies that stimulated his mind and creativity. His friends and family will always remember his sharp wit, sense of humor, and his ability to hold a conversation on nearly any topic.

Nathan is survived by his father, Joseph T. “Pat” Vandygriff of Carrollton; his siblings, Jerome Vandygriff (Lizzy) of Standard City, Darrell (Sharon) Vandygriff of Godfrey, Dwayne (Cindy) Vandygriff of Brighton, Rhonda Vulliet of Vermont, Illinois and Daniel Vandygriff of Summerville; a half-sister, Jakota Emery of Benld; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nolie Mae Vandygriff and a brother-in-law, Walter Vulliet.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 24, at the funeral home.

Nathan will be laid to rest at Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be made to the family, in care of the funeral home.

Nathan’s bright mind, kind heart, and unique perspective on life will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all who knew and loved him.
