Myrtle was devout in her Christian Faith and an active member of her church, Heartland Baptist Church in Alton, for many years. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the church Choir and was always the first to lend a helping hand with any special projects or events.

Surviving are a daughter and son in-law, Paulette and Tom Hydrick of Brighton; two granddaughters, Marlena Rogers and Sara Randall; a great granddaughter, Kelsey Rogers; a brother, Walter Taylor of Tennessee;  four nieces, Nancy (Gene) Stone of Jerseyville, Linda Devening of Jerseyville and Sandra and Meredith of Tennessee.
