MICHAEL R. SCOGGINS

JERSEYVILLE - Michael R. “Mike” Scoggins, 61, died unexpectedly at 1:55 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his home in Jerseyville.

He was born on May 7, 1964 in Jerseyville, one of three sons born to the late Robert Darrell and Geraldine Kaye (Heitzman) Scoggins.

Mike grew up in Jersey County, also spending some of his years in Kane. He attended Jersey Community High School and went on to build a career as a skilled carpenter. 

Beyond his work, Mike was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues, following the teams faithfully through wins and losses. He also had a knack for woodworking, finding satisfaction in creating pieces both useful and meaningful.

Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeffrey and Sherry Scoggins of Mexico, Missouri and Paul “PJ” and Deidra Scoggins of Kane; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gerry Scoggins on July 28, 2011; his father, Bob Scoggins on July 17, 2024; and a niece, Kelsie Hope Scoggins on April 9, 2014.

A Memorial Luncheon will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Kane Baptist Church.
