MATTHEW GRIZZLE
FIDELITY - Matthew Eugene Grizzle, 28, died Thursday, September 24, 2020 at St. Louis University Hospital from injuries he had sustained in an automobile accident that morning.
He was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on April 21, 1992, the oldest of three children born to Billy Jack "B.J." and Amy (Buck) Grizzle.
Matthew graduated in 2010 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville and worked as a carpenter for many years with Mike Crotchett Construction, and then later at Southside Hardware in Greenfield. For the last two years, he has been employed as a crane operator at Alton Steel Company.
Surviving are his parents, B.J. and Amy Grizzle of Fidelity; a brother, Justin Grizzle of Fidelity; a sister, Kiley Grizzle of Fidelity; his companion, Chloe Golden, and her son, Riley, of Greenfield; grandparents, Brenda and Richard Daiker of Fidelity and Robert Weeks of Bethalto; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and three very special children in his life, Trenton, Mackenzie and Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary "Dee" Mitchell, Larry Lee Buck, Chester "Louie" Grizzle and Charles Baker; great grandparents, Cecil Murel and Margaret Emmaline Grogan and Arthur Eugene and Alma Buck; and uncle and aunt, Larry Eugene and Michelle Buck; an aunt, Tony Grizzle; and two cousins, Cassandra Grizzle and Nathaniel Grizzle.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Per CDC guidelines, no more than 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time, masks must be worn, and social distancing followed.
A Private funeral will take place on Friday at the funeral home, with burial in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Fidelity.
Memorials may be given to the Scoliosis Foundation at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
