MARY RODGERS
JERSEYVILLE – Mary M. (McGiffen) Rodgers, 91, of Jerseyville, passed away at 8:32 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2025 at her home.
She was born December 25, 1933 in Newbern, Illinois, the daughter of the late George and Freda (Gibbs) McGiffen.
She married Carl E. Rodgers on August 14, 1948, in Jerseyville and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2005.
Mary worked in the dining room of Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton for 14 years, later serving as Union Steward at the former Ropers Plastic Factory for nine years, and finishing her career at Capital Records in Jacksonville. She was a member of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church in Jerseyville for 40 years.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Simms of Morton. Mary Ann Rodgers of Jerseyville, Ginger Morgan of Fieldon, and JoAlice Rodgers of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, R. Michael Simms, and Cori Simms both of Morton, Mary and Robert “Peto” of Delhi, Tabbie Morgan of Fieldon, Kimberly and Jesse Doran of Oklahoma City, Markee Richardson, Jackie Willard, Justin Huett all of Kentucky; 13 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Long, a granddaughter, Jeannie Richardson; a sister, Alice (McGiffen) Crull; a son in-law Wallace Morgan; and a grandson in-law, Ed Willard.
The family thanks all of Mary’s caregivers who made it possible for her to remain at home, especially Mary Ann Rodgers, who shared a home with her for over 20 years, her daughter Ginger Morgan and grandchildren – Mary, Robert “Peto”, Devon, Elsie Eden, and Chloe Lott, for their loving care. The family also wishes to extend special gratitude to BJC Hospice for their kindness and support.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with Pastor Josh Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church or to BJC Hospice.
