MARY HAENITSCH

JERSEYVILLE - Mary Eva Haenitsch, 81, died at 9:23 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2026 at Jersey Community Hospital.

She was born on December 25, 1944 in Amboy, Illinois, the daughter of the late Ralph and Charlotte (Long) Glenn. She married Ronald W. Haenitsch on April 8, 1967 in Sterling, Illinois, and together they built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2004.

Mary and Ronald shared many years together residing throughout four Midwestern states before making Jerseyville their home in 1980. During that time, they owned and operated the Cabin Tavern in Delhi for 13 years, where Mary became a familiar and welcoming presence to many. Following Ronald’s retirement, they returned to Amboy. After Mary’s own retirement, she made her way back to Jerseyville in 2017, where she remained close to her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Branham of Jerseyville; two grandchildren, Melida Branham (Todd George) of Jerseyville and Cody Branham of Alton; a great-granddaughter, Lillie Wilfong; and her siblings, David A. (Roberta) Glenn of Amboy, John Glenn of Amboy, Rodger Glenn of Sterling, Bob (Sue) Glenn of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Sylvia Williams of Dixon, Charlene (Larry) Johnson of Amboy and Linda (Rick) Wittenaur of Amboy.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Haenitsch on December 27, 1997; a son-in-law, Darrin K. Branham on March 17, 2022; a brother, Donald W. Glenn; a sister, Gladys L. Jacobs; and a sister in infancy, Bonnie Glenn.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, Illinois. 

Memorials may be given to Riverbend Humane Society, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, who has been entrusted with arrangements.
