MARK TALLEY
Mark William Talley, age 39, of Jerseyville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
Born on March 3, 1985, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton, Mark was the son of Leon and Barbara (Caselton) Talley. He spent his early childhood on the family farm in Fieldon before moving to Jerseyville at the age of three. Mark attended East Elementary, Illini Middle School, and graduated from Jersey Community High School in 2004.
Mark cherished time with his family and friends, never missing a family gathering, whether it was a holiday, a birthday, or a Sunday meal. He took great joy in being an uncle, spending countless hours with his nieces and nephews. Mark worked at McDonald's in Godfrey for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed hanging out with his friends, especially his two best friends Joe and Amanda, and had a special fondness for Amanda's little dog, Molly. Strong in his faith, Mark attended weekly mass at Holy Ghost Church and always wore his cross necklace.
A passionate fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, Mark loved wearing his team gear and could often be found watching or listening to the games. From a young age, Mark loved to watch wrestling, especially WWE, with his dad and brothers. He was also dedicated to his fitness, frequently working out at the JCH Wellness Center, where he was recently named Member of the Month. Mark was an avid walker, rarely missing his daily strolls around Wock Lake or the streets of Jerseyville, no matter the weather. Mark had a love for 1980s sitcoms and movies, with "Smokey and the Bandit" being his all-time favorite. He could recite the entire movie and never grew tired of watching it.
Mark is survived by his parents, Barb and Leon, and his siblings, Michael Talley, Matthew Talley, Sara (Rick) Pranger and Christopher Talley, all of Jerseyville. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Karli, Jackson, Austin, Addison, Ethan, Clayton, Camden, and Naveigh.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Emma Talley, and Lyndle and Anna Caselton, and three aunts, Vickie and Mary Caselton and Marjorie (Talley) Thompson.
