MARILYN PERDUN

JERSEYVILLE -   Marilyn J. (Wallace) Perdun, 88, died at 9:45 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024, at her residence.

She was born in Grafton, Illinois on October 28, 1935, one of seven children born to Carl Fred and Mary Barbara (Riley) Wallace.

She was blessed to have been born into a large and loving family, and her devotion to her family became a lifelong passion. She was loving and fiercely supportive of her children and grandchildren. As the rock of the family, her family knew that she could always be counted on whenever and for whatever the needed.

She was employed in housekeeping for several years at Jersey Community Hospital, as well as Illini Junior High School in Jerseyville.  She enjoyed fishing, bingo, and camping at Honey Bend.

She married Gerald A. "Sonny" Perdun on August 30, 1958 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Together they were blessed with many happy memories, and the joys of their three children and grandchildren, before his death on December 24, 2014.

Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Gerald "Jerry" and Bev Perdun, Patricia "Pat" and Chuck Carter, and Ricky Lee and Tracey Perdun, all of Jerseyville; 6 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; two sisters and a brother in-law, Myrna and Harold Landon of Carlinville and Barbara Ann Eddings of Jerseyville; two brothers and a sister in-law, Riley Wallace of Jerseyville and Loren and Barbara Wallace of Chandler, Arizona; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant granddaughters, Julie Kay Perdun and Erin Perdun; two brothers and sisters in-law, Carl and Charlotte Wallace and Gerald "Jerry" and DeeDee Wallace; a sister in-law, Joan Wallace; and a brother in-law, John Eddings.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday.  Rev. Bob Taylor will officiate.

She will be laid to rest in the Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to either Grimes-Neeley Cemetery or the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, where she was a longtime member.
