JERSEYVILLE -  Marcella Ann Simpson Richter, 91, died at 9:50 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on May 10, 1933, one of eleven children born to Durward and Geraldine (Cummings) Kraushaar.

She married Charles Raymond Simpson on October 25, 1952 in Jerseyville, Illinois.  The two raised their two sons in the Eldred area, and shared nearly 36 years of marriage before his death on June 7, 1989.     She later married Edward John Richter, and he died on April 11, 2019.

She is survived by a son, Gary Simpson of Jerseyville; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kristy and Jeremy Beasley of Fieldon, Todd and Erica Simpson of Danville, In., and Tara Jo Simpson of Carrollton;  three great grandchildren; and her siblings, Yvonne, Elma, Genevieve, JoAnn, Garneta, Durward Jr., Stanley, Roger and Lawrence.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter in-law, Phil and Peggy Simpson; a daughter in-law, Barbara Ann (Willis) Simpson; and a brother, Carl Kraushaar.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12 noon, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.   Father Martin Smith will officiate.

Burial will be in Eldred Memorial Gardens in Eldred, Illinois.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
