LOUIS ANTHONY “TONY” JONES

JERSEYVILLE - Louis Anthony “Tony” Jones, 66, died at 12:30 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2026, at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri.

He was born on April 8, 1959, in Jerseyville and was the son of John and Alice (Smith) Vester.

Tony spent his working years employed with Jones Brothers as a tree cutter and hauler. It was hard work, and he was no stranger to it. Those who knew him understood that he took pride in putting in a full day’s labor and doing the job right. 

Outside of work, Tony found joy in the simple, good things in life. He loved cooking, especially when it meant feeding the people he cared about. Time spent around a table with family meant everything to him. He also enjoyed relaxing with a cold beer at JEM Bar in Jerseyville, where he could share stories, laughter, and familiar company.

More than anything, Tony loved his family. He shared a close bond with his many nieces and nephews, who will forever carry memories of his humor, his presence, and the way he showed up for them. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Bethany Jones; Stacey Jones (Henry Medina); Shannon Jones (Tim Reno); Alicia (Jay) Cross; Casey Jones; Danieel Hines (Timothy Stogner); Stephanie (Jake) Scroggins; Alex Jones (Alyssa Patrick); Derrick Jones; JJ Jones; and Jimmy Banister; along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Nancy Jones and Cristy Huff, as well as a special boy, Daniel Hendy, whom Tony thought of like a son.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Jones, Bill (Bonnie) Jones, Daryl Jones, Greg Jones, and John Henry Jones; as well as a great-niece in infancy.

Cremation rights have been accorded.
