Loretta "Lori" Summers Obituary

LORETTA “LORI” SUMMERS

ROUND ROCK, TX - Loretta  (Lori) Margaret Summers, died peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family.

Lori was born on March 10, 1944 to Catherine and Renard Hagen, who lived in Hardin, Illinois. She was the eldest of three close sisters who grew up sharing their parents’ Catholic faith and a devotion to each other that lasted all of her days.  Lori attended Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, where she met her soulmate, Donald (Don) Summers, and they were married on June 13, 1964. Together, Don and Lori built the foundation for a happy life and a beautiful family with five children.

Throughout all her life, Lori placed the needs of others before her own. Her caring, cheerful nature captured the hearts of all who knew her and served as a continuous source of encouragement. Family and friends could depend on her to listen without judgment and to love unconditionally. She was forever graceful in her carefully chosen words, thoughts and actions.

Lori’s ability to love and protect extended well beyond her family. She graduated SMU Law School in Dallas, Texas in 1987 and practiced Family Law in Texas. Lori dedicated much of her time to advocating the rights of abused and neglected children. Through the CASA program, Lori served as the child’s voice in the courtroom, and tirelessly fought for many children to break free from abuse to embrace a brighter future.

Lori is survived by her loving husband, Don and their five children, Kimberly Bieron, her husband, Brian and their three children, Jeffrey Summers, his wife, Tamara Summers and their three children, Brian Summers, Aimee Boyd,  her husband Brett Boyd and their two children and Piper Summers. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Le Faivre of Philo, Illinois and Catherine (Cathie) Ward of Jerseyville, Illinois, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
