LEONARD L. BROWN, JR.

JERSEYVILLE - Leonard L. Brown, Jr., passed away at 11:09 a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri, at the age of 75. 

He was the oldest of seven children born to the late Leonard L. Brown, Sr. and Estalene N. (Frye) Brown. 

He was a graduate of Southwestern High School and spent his working years as a mechanic, first with Western Auto and later at Wal-Mart, both in Jerseyville. 

Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and mushroom hunting. 

He married Mary E. Herring on June 6, 1970 in Jerseyville and she survives. 

Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly J. and Patrick E. Means of Alton and a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby J. and Aloysie West of Greenfield; a brother, Larry L. Brown of Jerseyville and a sister and brother-in-law, Lola L. and Mike Feyerabend of Jerseyville; a brother-in-law, Steven W. Garrison of Carrollton; a sister-in-law, April Murray of Jerseyville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews; a grandson, BJ West; two granddaughters, Kayliegh and Taylor West; and a great-grandson, Asher, Jr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ellen S. Herring; a son, David L. Brown on March 25, 2014; two brothers, Lonnie L. and Lyndell Brown; two sisters, Laura L. Garrison and Betty L. Brown, in infancy. 

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. 

Burial will immediately follow at Kane Cemetery. 

A Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date.
