KENNETH PROUGH
JERSEYVILLE - Kenneth L. Prough, 94, died at 9:46 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Evercare of Jerseyville.
He was born on May 5, 1931 in Greene County, Illinois, one of seven children born to the late Ralph and Lucy (Turner) Prough.
Kenny married the love of his life, Betty Marie Ringhausen, on September 21, 1951 at the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville. Together, they shared a devoted marriage of more than 73 years before her passing on March 30, 2025.
He was employed for many years with the Olin Corporation, retiring in 1992 as a Leader in the Casting Plant. A hardworking and dependable man, Kenny was known for his steady presence, kind spirit, and loyalty both at work and in life.
He developed a lifelong love of boating, purchasing his first boat in 1957. The water became one of He and Betty’s favorite places to unwind, and they continued to enjoy boating the majority of their adult lives.
Although they had no children of their own, their lives were richly filled with the love of many nieces and nephews who adored them and remained close throughout their lives.
Surviving are two sisters, Betty Thiebaud of Dallas, Texas and Barbara Foiles of Carrollton; a sister-in-law, Lucy Weller of Brentwood, Tennessee; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Ringhausen of Dallas, Texas.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Prough; brothers, Donald (Marva) Prough, Lawrence (Velma) Prough, and Glenn Prough; along with two brothers-in-law, Roger Foiles and Franklyn Thiebaud.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2025 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, and continue from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 4.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to Jersey Community Hospital Foundation.
