KATHY WILKINSON
JERSEYVILLE - Kathy Sue Wilkinson, 68, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Jerseyville Manor.
She was born on February 21, 1958, in Jerseyville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Curtis and Ada (Shaw) Wilkinson. Kathy graduated with the Class of 1976 from Jersey Community High School and later obtained her Nursing Certification from the former J.B. Johnson School of Nursing in Alton.
For Kathy, caring for others was never just a profession—it was part of who she was. She devoted more than four decades of her life to nursing, spending 42 years at Eden Village Retirement Center in Glen Carbon. Throughout those years, she formed deep connections with the residents she cared for, especially those facing the challenges of dementia. Her patience, compassion, and gentle presence made a lasting difference in the lives of countless families who entrusted their loved ones to her care. During the final two years of her career, she continued that same devotion while working at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Outside of her work, Kathy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a special fondness for Mickey Mouse and rarely missed the chance to watch a St. Louis Cardinals game, faithfully cheering on her team through every season.
While Kathy never had children of her own, she held a deep and special place in the lives of her family. She treasured the relationships she shared with her many nieces and nephews, always proud to celebrate their milestones and eager to be part of their lives as they grew. Her quiet kindness, steady presence, and genuine love will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Bill Brady of Jerseyville; along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who will continue to carry her memory forward.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McKenney Bratton; a brother, Dallas Wilkinson; and a niece, Jamie Cox Watters.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2026, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
