Karen Reno Obituary



GOLDEN EAGLE -    Karen Sue Reno, 69, died suddenly at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her residence.


She was born in Carrollton on March 31, 1950, and was one of four children born to Richard and Dorothea (Cope) Reno.


Karen grew up in Kane, where attended school, and graduated in 1968 from Carrollton Community High School.


Shortly after that she married Larry Dean Fisher and together they were the parents of three children.   Karen was a deep love for animals and cared for many pets in her home.  She possessed a love for people, and with her gregarious personality could strike up a conversation wherever she might be.


For the last 32 years, she has been a resident of south Calhoun County, where she was a member of the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in  Brussels, and particularly proud of her volunteerism with the South County Ambulance, as well as Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.


Surviving are her parents, Richard and Dorothea Reno of Kane; her three children and their spouses, Crystal and James Brand of Jerseyville, Melody and Jay Schenk of Golden Eagle, and Joshua and Vallerie Fisher of Granite City; 11 Grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers in-law, Sharon and Ronald Albrecht of Carrollton and Beverly and Kenneth Lake of Carrollton; a brother and sister in-law, Rick and Ginger Reno of Kane; along with numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by a nephew, Martin Albrecht; and her grandparents, Clarence and Cleda Cope and Georgie Sanford and Cecilia Reno.


Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.   Rev. Chuck Keene will officiate.


She will be laid to rest in the Kane Cemetery.


Memorials may be given to her family in care of the funeral home.
