John Francis Madson

JERSEYVILLE -  John Francis "Moe" Madson, 64, died at 12:06 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

He was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on May 7, 1960, and was the son of the late Morris "Jerk" and Alice Marie (Kallal) Madson.

Moe grew up in Jerseyville, and graduated in 1978 from Jersey Community High School.  He spent his adult life working with Hansen Trucking as a dispatcher dedicating over 30 years to the company.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and you could always count on Moe to provide you with any sports knowledge, with the daily newspaper sports page in his back pocket.

He married Elisabeth Ann Kessinger on September 4, 1996 at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, and she died September 15, 2017.

He is survived by his step son, Joshua Ritz of Fulton, Mo.; his close friend and caregiver, Deann Woolsey of Jerseyville; numerous cousins, including Debbie Crain, Robin Giberson and Debbie Buchanan; along with his Hansen Trucking Family, which he was very close to.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m., until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville with Father Martin Smith officiating.

He will be laid to rest alongside his wife at East Newbern Cemetery in Dow.

Memorials may be given to St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic School or to DaVita Dialysis both in Jerseyville.
