JOHN FLEMING
CARROLLTON - John Edwin Fleming, 27, died at 4:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., after a brave and humble battle with cancer.
He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on March 26, 1998, and was one of two children born to William Norris and Linda Diann (Kemper) Fleming.
From the very beginning on his journey in life, John was a loving, caring, quiet guy that cherished his family and doted on his parents, ensuring they were always taken care of, as well as loved.
His story began in Alton, and at the age of two, his family relocated to rural Carrollton, where he attended Jerseyville schools, graduating in 2017 from Jersey Community High School. He earned an Associates Degree from Lewis and Clark Community College, and was blessed to be a part of the World Wide Technology family, serving as a configuration technician in Edwardsville.
John loved to ride motorcycles, baking and cooking, specializing in old and unique recipes, and was eager to share his creations with his family. He had a heart for animals, and currently had eight cats that he was caring for. He had a keen ear for any genre of music, loved to explore on the computer, and was a constant learner, and in the words of his family was 'uber smart'.
His kind and soft heart was evident during his illness, as he never complained, never placed blame, and was always positive towards his caregivers, ensuring them all, just how grateful he was for their love and concern.
He is survived by his loving and extremely proud parents, Bill and Linda Fleming of Carrollton; his loving sister, Julie (Scott) Doerr of Belle Fourche, SD; his nieces and nephews, Emily (Thomas) Theisen of Godfrey, Mitchell Nash, stationed with the United States Marine Corp in San Diego, Ca., and Griffin (Emma Armour) Nash of Alton; his great niece and nephew, Tommy and Cecelia Theisen; along with numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eldon and Billie Kemper and Bill and Dorothy Fleming Jr.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted on his 28th Birthday, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026. Revs. Jason Daves and Sam Shaw will officiate.
