JEFFREY HUTCHINSON
GODFREY – Jeffrey Alan Hutchinson, 72, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Jerseyville Manor, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on February 14, 1951, one of three children born to the late Ellsworth “Hutch” and Dorothy (Parker) Hutchinson.
Jeff grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri, where he graduated with the Class of 1969 from Webster Groves High School. He went on to further his education at Southeast Missouri State University, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in History in 1973.
He was a lifelong Laborer in the Construction industry, working for various contractors throughout his career, ultimately retiring from JRW Construction in Saint Louis, Missouri.
He found contentment in the simple things in life, like spending time bass fishing, working in his yard and spending quality time with his family.
Raising his girls, their childhood was filled with many wonderful memories camping together at Elephant Rock State Park and Huzzah Valley.
It was in these early years and as they grew older that he instilled in them the values of hard work, commitment to family and the importance of leaving this world better than you found it; not in grand and boisterous ways, but simply by living your life being caring, loyal, loving and supportive to those around you.
His gentle spirit will remain a source of inspiration in the hearts of those who were blessed to love and know him.
Surviving are two daughters, Meghan Towell, and her husband, Kevin, of Jerseyville and McKenzie Hutchinson, and her companion, Aaron Moore, of Brighton; four grandchildren, Konnor, Ava, Karter and Jace; a sister, Betsy Cracchiolo of Saint Louis, Missouri; as well as the “son he never had”, his beloved K-9 companion, Hutch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Jones.
Never one to wish for the spotlight to be cast on him, it was his wishes to have no public services held. So instead, honor Jeff by living by his example – don’t sweat the small stuff, always keep your head up and keep pushing forward, cherish each day as if it were your last and above all else, love one another.
