ISABELLE BECKER
JERSEYVILLE - Isabelle Ada Louise Becker, age 101, passed peacefully at 9:35 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Evercare of Jerseyville.
She was born on August 13, 1923, in Granite City, Illinois, the ninth of twelve children - and the last surviving child - born to Andrew Fredrick and Mamie Elizabeth (Hicks) Hoffman.
She married the love of her life, Adam Becker, on May 1, 1942, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. They raised three daughters while residing in the Maryville area and later relocated to Cabot, Arkansas.
For over 40 years, Isabelle and Adam were dedicated members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Maryville, where she gave generously of her time and heart. She lived a life of quiet service, whether it was her early years working at the Tannery in East Alton and the Tinker Toy Factory, or later cleaning homes to help provide for her family. But above all, Isabelle embraced the role of wife, mother, and grandmother with a passion and joy that shaped generations.
After Adam’s passing in 2002, Isabelle made her home with her daughter Louise, and together they spent meaningful years in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Springfield, Missouri; and finally, Jerseyville, Illinois. Throughout her life, she remained active, spirited, and deeply connected to her family and faith. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and also loved spending time in nature, especially with her beloved husband by her side.
Known for her incredible cooking and warm hospitality, Isabelle never met a family gathering she didn’t enjoy. Whether hosting a small visit or helping at a full-blown reunion, she cherished every laugh, every hug, and every moment spent with those she loved.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law: Barbara Wolters of North Carolina, and Susan (Olaf) Aagard of Wyoming; six grandchildren: Richard (Lu) Crabtree II of Springfield, Missouri, Warren (Cathy) Crabtree of Jerseyville, Brian (Kerri) Wolters of Cabot, Arkansas, Melanie Wolters of North Carolina, Amber Vandersloot of Collinsville and Ashlea Uhls of St. Louis, Missouri; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Richard Crabtree; a son-in-law, Mel Wolters; and all eleven of her beloved siblings.
The family will host a Celebration of Life beginning at 1 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Feyerabend Building located at 201 East Spruce Street in Jerseyville.
Private interment will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
