GWENDA “GWEN” SCHMOELLER
GODFREY – Gwenda “Gwen” Faye Schmoeller, 68, passed away at 11:59 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at her home in Godfrey after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on August 1, 1956, in Jerseyville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Gerald Frederek and Margaret Mae (Dunham) Burch.
She married Don Schmoeller on October 5, 1991, at Fieldon United Church of Christ, and together they were blessed with 33 years of marriage together.
Gwen was all about family and friends. She was happiest when gathering with those she loved or shopping for a little something special to gift someone. She was also
known for sending friends and family little notes or cards and finding just the right words that you needed to hear at that moment in your life. She could be your bright light in a
dark world.
Gwen faced her battles with her health for the past 11 years without complaints and with strong faith. She held tight to and truly believed in one of her favorite bible verses,
“…with God all things are possible”.
Surviving is her husband, Don Schmoeller of Godfrey; two children, Brandi Brackett and Steven Schmoeller, both of Godfrey; a brother, Jerry Burch of Chicago; as well as
numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Schmoeller and
a special aunt, Faye Lavey.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m, Thursday, July 17,
2025, at the Fieldon United Church of Christ.
Private graveside services will be held.
The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the healthcare team at Moeller Cancer Center for helping her through everything over the last several years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Fieldon United Church of Christ.
