GRACE KANALLAKAN

JERSEYVILLE - Grace Ellen Kanallakan, 83, died at 12:48 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family at the home of her granddaughter in Maryville.

She was born on October 7, 1938 in Dexter, Missouri, one of five children born to the late Harold Lester and Thelma (Lane) Fry.

Grace graduated with the Class of 1956 from Jersey Community High School and was employed for many years with Country Companies, in both Jerseyville and Edwardsville, retiring in 2004.

She married Eldon John Kanallakan on February 4, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada and throughout their 42 years of marriage they were blessed with many wonderful shared with one another and their family.

Grace and Eldon enjoyed traveling, with a cruise to Alaska being among their favorite trips. They were also actively involved with the former Elks Lodge in Jerseyville, where they chaired the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.

She possessed an outgoing personality and enjoyed socializing with her friends and family, and always looked forward to her morning coffee talks with her sister.

Surviving are two children, Kelly Holmes and Stacey Moore, both of Granite City; two step-children, Rob Kanallakan, and his spouse Demetrius Williams of Saint Louis, Missouri and Christy Lyles of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Abigail, Cassidy and Hannah Wooley and Olivia Moore; 5 step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren, Hayden Wooley, Marco Smith and William Duhadway; 11 step great-grandchildren; two sisters in-law, Pati Fry of Elsah and Margie Fry of Missouri; as well as two brothers in-law, David Black of Jerseyville and Marty Porter of Mascoutah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon, on December 26, 2021;  two sisters, Donna Porter and Mary Black and two brothers, Harold G. and Gary Fry.

Private interment will take place alongside her husband, Eldon, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.

For those desiring, memorials may be given to the Father William Hembrow Center, in care of Crawford Funeral Home (1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052) who has been entrusted with arrangements.
