GERALDINE ROMERO

JERSEYVILLE – Geraldine Ann Romero, 79, died at 12:15 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2026 at her residence with her family by her side. 

She was born on April 9, 1947, in Breese, Illinois to Gelindo and Blanche (Johnson) Riess.

She was the kind of woman that never met a stranger and could often be found sitting on her front porch, waving to the passing kids, neighbors, and anyone lucky enough to drive by. She found peace and pride in tending to her garden.

Geraldine was faithful in watching fox news which was always on her tv, oftentimes times with a diet pepsi nearby.

Above all else, she loved her grandchildren more than anything, never missing out on a chance to show them just how much she loved them.

She is survived by her three children, Michael Romero of Cottage Hills, IL., Jason (Kristina Kampmann) Romero of East Alton, IL., and Anglequec (Robert) Dixon of Jerseyville; three brothers, Ronald (Eyvon) Reiss of San Diego, CA., Rick (Salena) Reiss of Gainesville, FL., and Paul Reiss of Alton, IL., a sister, Catherine Thompson of Belleville, IL.; six grandchildren, Daniel Kilmer, Sierra Lynch, Cinta Gleason, Michelle Reamer, Kaylee Kampmann-Leahde, and Marcus Kampmann; 15 great-grandchildren, Kegan, Joshua, Jordan, Amelia, Gabriel, Braxton, Tyson, Skylee, Colton, Arienna, Brooklyn, Andrew, Kalie, Raven, and one on the way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, DeAnn Romero, her ex-husband, Mike Romero, and her beloved dog, Rosco.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
