GERALDINE HIZER
SPANISH LAKE, MISSOURI - Geraldine Lee "Gerry" Hizer, 95, departed this life peacefully at 7:42 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025 in Ballwin, Missouri.
She was born in Roodhouse, Illinois on August 27, 1930, and was the daughter of William and Clorene (Bright) Parker.
She graduated in 1947 from Jersey Township High School in Jerseyville, and later went on to attend nursing school, graduating from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing.
She was passionate and proud of her nursing career, which began with Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton and later at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, both in the labor and delivery department.
She then went on to Fontaine Woods, and eventually retired from Bellefontaine State School and Hospital in Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri.
She married Lewis Joseph Hizer Sr. on October 3, 1953 at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in downtown Saint Louis. Together, they were blessed with 63 years of marriage, before his death on May 27, 2017.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Kathy and Jim Rice of Brentwood, Missouri, Donna and Cary Babinec of Phoenix, Arizona, Lewis and Ellen Hizer Jr. of Comstock Park, Michigan, Herbert Hizer and Andrew Hizer, both of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; and her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and David Bird of St. Louis, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by two daughters, Jean Ellen Hizer on Aug. 23, 1960 and Christine Leigh Hizer on April 21, 2015; as well as two sisters, Mary Ann Simms and Patricia Light.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of funeral services at 4 p.m. on Friday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with Frank DeWitt officiating.
She will be laid to rest in Kane Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to either Shriners Hospital in St. Louis or Alzheimer's Association.
