GEORGE CLARK
JERSEYVILLE - George E. Clark, 92, passed away peacefully at 6:14 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor with his two sisters by his side.
He was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on July 20, 1933, and was one of three children born to Edward G. "Bud" and Ada Marguerite (Schneider) Clark.
He was raised in a loving family along with his two sisters, and graduated in 1951 from Jersey Community High School.
Immediately after high school, George ventured off to Chicago, where he found opportunity and love. With the exception of a stint with the United States Army during the Korean War, he spent the majority of his adult life and working career in Chicago. He accepted employment with Western Electric as an installer, a company he would remain with his entire career until retirement.
He married his first wife, Lillian, and that union blessed him with a step son, Robert, and they enjoyed life together until her death on January 9, 1988.
He was blessed to find love once again, when met Mary Nell Connolly at her sister's restaurant in Chicago. The two married on January 23, 1994 there in Chicago, and they relocated back home to Jerseyville in 1997, where they were closer to family. George and Mary were able to spend many happy years together until her death five months ago on June 21, 2025.
He enjoyed traveling, but found most contentment and enjoyment on the golf course. You could easily find him daily on the course at Wolves Crossing in Jerseyville, enjoying the many friendships he established along the way, and even attained a Hole in One in November 2006. His active lifestyle also took him to the Jerseyville Wellness Center, where he became a regular, and once again, established friendships easily.
George is survived by his two sisters, Rosemary Munsterman of Jerseyville and Judith Long of Bethalto; nephews, David (Beverly) Munsterman of Godfrey, Jacob (Jodi) Long of Dow, and Patrick Long of Wood River; as well as a special great niece, Libby Munsterman and her fiance, Sam Ahlmeyer of Gillespie.
He is also survived by a daughter in-law, Abby Jankowski of Glendale, Wi.; along with her three children, Rob, Michelle and Amanda.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Robert Jankowski; and a brother in-law, Michael J. Long.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville.
Burial will take place in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion conducting military rites.
