Gary G. Krueger, 75, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at his home.
He was born on November 3, 1950, in Alton, Illinois, to Anthony “Tony” and Glennon (Myers) Krueger.
Gary married Rhonda Mary Beiser on February 6, 1971, at Delhi Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2025.
Gary graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1968 and briefly attended Western Illinois University. He was a lifelong farmer and later retired as a supervisor with the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Gary was deeply active in his community and a pillar in the local political arena. A returning member of the Jersey County Board, he previously served as Vice Chairman and also served as Chairman of the County Board. During his tenure, he chaired the Economic Development and Tourism, Liquor Control, and Personnel Committees.
He also served as a Mississippi Township Trustee and was a member of the Jersey County Board of Review. Gary was actively involved with the Jersey County Republican Committee, serving as chairman, and contributed his time as a member of the Jersey County Rural Water Board and the Soil and Water Board. He was also a past member of the Elks and the Moose.
In his free time, Gary enjoyed working in his shop, where he built his own barbecue grill and smoker. He also cherished traveling with Rhonda—especially their annual trips to Branson and visits with their grandchildren in the South.
Surviving are his three children: two sons, Benjamin (Lynn) Krueger of Broadheadsville, Pennsylvania, and Christopher Curt (Stephanie) Krueger of Godfrey; and a daughter, Carisa (Kyle) Cook of Greenfield. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Devon (Victoria) Krueger, Riley Krueger, Hayley Krueger, Alexander Krueger, Brady Cook, Levi Cook, and Cailyn Cook; two great-grandchildren: Valerie Krueger and Henry Krueger; and five siblings and their spouses: Sue Holzworth of Macomb, Donna and Marion Phipps of Jerseyville, Tony Kent and Linda Krueger of Jerseyville, Martha Welch of Brighton, and Marilyn Woelfel of Jerseyville, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to his wife, Rhonda, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Long and her spouse, Spencer; and brothers-in-law, Ed Holzworth and George Welch.
