EVELYN RANDOLPH

JERSEYVILLE – Evelyn Lucille Randolph, 98, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at her home in Jerseyville.

She was born on October 16, 1925 in Alton, Illinois and was the daughter of the late William and Lucille (Calame) Schaaf and was a 1944 graduate of Jersey Community High School.

She married John Watson Randolph on July 10, 1948 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville and together they were blessed with 59 years of marriage, prior to his death on June 25, 2007.

Evelyn was employed as a Real Estate Abstractor prior to her retirement in 1983.

She was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville and also served as a member of the Jersey County Extension and as a volunteer with the Jersey Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members, all of whom she loved and cared for deeply.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Watson Randolph in 1962; four  sisters, Marie “Rhea”  Whitley, Edith “Edie” Young, Phyllis Gansz Shipley and Ruth Ann Pike; a brother, William Schaaf; three brothers in-law, Dobie Whitley, Robert E. Young, and Elba Gansz; a sister in-law, Joann Schaaf; her father in-law and mother in-law, Thomas and Anna (Steckel) Randolph; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Ruth (Maurice) Dahmus, Preston (Leona) Randolph, Thomas (Mary June) Randolph, and William (Adele) Randolph

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville and she was laid to rest alongside her husband and son at St. Francis Cemetery in Jerseyville.

For those desiring, memorials may be given to St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic School in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052, who was entrusted with arrangements.
