Eileen Walz Obituary

EILEEN WALZ

CARROLLTON - Eileen Frances Walz, 94, died at 6:50 a.m., Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Center in Hardin.

She was born on June 6, 1931 in Brighton, Illinois, the last surviving of eight children born to Albert and Lena (Buchholz) Wyman.

On November 24, 1949, she married Robert M. "Bob" Walz at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton. Together, they shared a devoted marriage and raised four children. The early years of their life together were spent in Alton before returning to Brighton and eventually settling in Jerseyville. Following Bob’s passing on May 20, 2016, Eileen made her home in Carrollton, where she remained close to family.

Eileen had a gentle spirit and a heart for the simple joys of life. She found peace and creativity in quilting, took delight in reading, and played the piano with quiet grace. Her faith remained central throughout her life, and in her later years, she found deep connection and comfort attending Kane Baptist Church.

But above all, Eileen was a mother. She created a warm, welcoming home for her family, and her love and care extended far beyond her children to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the lives she helped shape and the values she quietly instilled.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary and Dale Jouett of White Hall, and Patti Crull of Carrollton; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Joan Walz of South Hill, Virginia; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joseph Albrecht; a son-in-law, Kenneth Crull; and all seven of her siblings.

In accordance with her wishes, private burial will take place at Fosterburg Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the Kane Baptist Church, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052, who has been entrusted with arrangements.
