DOW – Doris Eileen Wedding, 92, passed away at 12:58 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at her home in Dow.

She was born on October 1, 1932, in Kemper, Illinois, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Crane) Young.

She married William Cutler Wedding on November 4, 1950, in Jerseyville, and together they shared a loving marriage that was blessed with five children. A devoted homemaker, Doris poured her heart into raising her family. After 53 years of marriage, her husband preceded her in death on August 3, 2004.

Doris was well-known for her love of a good yard sale and could often be found browsing resale shops and had a knack for spotting hidden treasures. 

Surviving are four of her children, Yvonne (Carl) Duncan of Dow, Greg (Jeannie) Wedding of Santa Rosa, Florida, Renee Wedding of Grafton, and Terry (Debbie) Wedding of Grafton; a sister, Frances Summers of Jerseyville; a brother, Duane Young of White Hall; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Toni Wedding; three grandchildren, Heather (Johnson) Wendle, Mathew Wedding, and Robert Edward Zimmerman Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Zoe Eileen Gettings; brothers, Edgar Young, Melvin Elknah Young, Donald Young, and Roy Young; and sisters, Maxine Sweetin, Mary Louise Thaxton, and Margaret Tucker.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Sunset graveside services will follow at Noble Cemetery in Otterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity or organization of one’s choice.
