DORIS DARR
JERSEYVILLE – Doris Eileen Darr, 95, formerly of Kane, passed away at 2:48 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville.
She was born in Greene County, Illinois on March 14, 1928 and was the eldest daughter born to the late Arnold B. and Mabel E. (Tucker) Crotchett.
She was a graduate of Carrollton High School, and worked for a brief time at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville.
She married Kenneth Eugene Darr on October 30, 1947 at Kane United Methodist Church and the two shared in 43 years of marriage, prior to his death on March 8, 1991. Together, they raised their only son, Alan, and worked alongside one another as the owners and operators of Darr Garage in Kane for many years.
Doris was a longtime and active member of Kane United Methodist Church, Elizabeth Chapter of the Eastern Star as well as the Greene County Home Extension.
Surviving are a son and daughter in-law, Alan and Kathy Darr of Festus, Missour; two grandchildren and their spouses, Cory and Kathy Darr of Jerseyville and Jacinda and Rocky Corkill of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Kyle Darr, Lynn Corkill and Landry Corkill; a sister, Sandra Goshorn of Jerseyville; two sisters in-law, Dotty Crotchett of Tennessee and Pat Gipson of Jerseyville; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marsha S. Crotchett; four brothers, Robert W. (Gail) Crotchett, Arnold B. Crotchett Jr., Richard D. Crotchett, Raymond E. “Gene” (Jane) Crotchett; a brother in-law and sister in-law, Keith and Glenda Darr; a sister in-law and brother in-law, Keota and Donald Crane; a brother in-law, Jerry Goshorn.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Burial will follow at Kane Cemetery.
