Donna Husmann Obituary

DONNA HUSMANN

Donna Marie Husmann, 64, died at 10:10 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025 at her home in Jerseyville, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 9, 1961 in Alton, Illinois, one of two daughters born to the late Donald L. and Audrey C. (Kern) Arnold. From an early age, Donna carried a sense of adventure and independence that shaped the way she lived her life - fully, fearlessly, and without hesitation.

Her life was filled with stories worth telling. She lived in many places over the years, including Alton, New Mexico, Kansas, Japan, Hawaii, and Mississippi, before settling in Jerseyville for the past 30 years. Each stop along the way added depth to her journey and broadened the incredible perspective she carried into every relationship and experience. She even graduated high school in Osaka, Japan, an experience that reflected her curiosity for the world and her courage to embrace new places and people.

Donna was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where she served her country honorably and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5). She took great pride in her service, particularly in being a strong woman in the military, something that shaped her confidence, work ethic, and unshakable determination throughout her life.

After her time in the service, Donna earned her Associate Degree in Applied Science and became a Registered Nurse. Nursing wasn’t just her profession, it was her purpose. Throughout her career, she cared for patients in hospitals, clinics, and homes across the country. No matter where she worked, she was known for her compassion, her quick humor, and her ability to make others feel seen and cared for. She rounded out her career with OSF Home Health in Alton, where she touched the lives of countless families before retiring in 2023.

She married Fred Husmann on November 11, 2000. Together, they built a home centered on love, laughter, and loyalty. Donna adored her family deeply, her sons, Josh and Jacob, and her three granddaughters, Ivy, Charlotte, and Chloe, who brought light to her every day. She also shared her home and heart with her beloved dogs, Millie and Nipper, who were her constant companions.

Donna will be remembered for her wit, her adventurous spirit, and her steadfast strength. She was the kind of woman who lived with intention, giving, exploring, and caring her way through life. Those who knew her will forever remember the warmth of her laugh, her unwavering independence, and the way she made every person and place she encountered a little better.

Surviving are her husband, Fred Husmann of Jerseyville; two sons, Josh Humbyrd of Jerseyville and Jacob Hinkson (Stephanie Crouch) of Edwardsville; three cherished granddaughters, Ivy, Charlotte, and Chloe; and her sister, Debbie Jones (Mitch Licata) of Godfrey. Along with many extended family members and countless friends she made throughout her life.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post #492 conducting full military honors.
