DONALD RUTLEDGE

JERSEYVILLE – Donald Roger Rutledge, 80, passed away peacefully at 1:02 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Calhoun Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hardin.

He was born on June 9, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan and was the son of the late James and Mildred (Wieneke) Rutledge.

Donald married Carolyn Bramley on October 3, 1986 in Shipman, and together they celebrated 37 years of marriage, prior to her passing on November 10, 2023.

Donald was employed for many years with the Madison County Sheriff Department and later began working as an over the road truck driver, prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed attending car/truck shows, in which he won many trophies and awards throughout the years. He also enjoyed playing and calling BINGO, where he created many lasting friendships. He also enjoyed spending time fishing, and loved sharing in this hobby with his grandchildren. In addition, he held a very special bond with his Boston Terrier, Maggie.

Surviving are three children, Rosemarie Hand of Brighton, Jim (Sherry) Rutledge of Brighton and Patty (PJ) Barten of Jerseyville; two step-children, Jennifer (Keith) Maulden of O’Fallon, Missouri and Daryl (Leah) Randolph of Shipman; twelve grandchildren, Cris (Emilee), Jamie, Jimmy (Kerri), Heather, Jameson, Missy (Kevin), Jessica (Brandon), Shawn, Stephen (Paige), Aaron (Megan), Sarah and Pete; four step-grandchildren, MacKenzie (Ben), Paige, Aiyanna and Noah; ten great grandchildren, Alex, Caden, TJ, Kaylee, Holly, Gunner, Asher, Clara, Hadley and Anderson, with two more on the way; as well as a sister, Patricia Rubemeyer.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Thomas and Charles Rutledge; as well as a step-son, Bradley Randolph.

A private family remembrance will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to Donald’s funeral fund to assist with expenses.
