DEREK DAY

JERSEYVILLE - Derek Lee Day, 30, died at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in Cave City, Kentucky.

He was born in Jerseyville, Illinois,  on February 11, 1995, and was the son of Dallas Lee and Teresa Sue (Hewitt) Day Sr.

Derek attended Jerseyville schools, and was employed professionally as a millwright, but was also a man of many trades.

Confined to a wheelchair since 2022, Derek never allowed that to prevent him from living his life the best way that he could. He persevered, he triumphed, but most of all he loved. As a stay at home Dad, he poured his heart into caring and loving his children.

Surviving are his father, Dallas Lee Day Sr. of Carlinville; his fiance', Kaylee Huett; his three children, Paizlee, Kayson, and Derek Lee Jr.; two brothers and a sister in-law, Darin Day of Jerseyville and Dallas and Katisha Day of Auburn; a sister, Jamie Day of Branson, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews, all who could claim they were his favorite.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Teresa Day; and his grandparents, Larry and Iola Hewitt and Amos Lee and Myrtle Day.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday, until time of funeral services at 12 noon at Crawford Funeral Home. Frank DeWitt will officiate.

He will be laid to rest alongside his Mother at Providence Cemetery in Carrollton.
