DENISE WARIX
JERSEYVILLE - Denise Renee (Ruyle) Warix, 65, died at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on September 10, 1960, and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Wanda Maxine (Cox) Ruyle.
"Niecey" as she was affectionately known, grew up in Kane and attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1978 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville.
She married William "Sonny" Warix on June 23, 1990, and after his retirement from United Parcel Service, the two relocated to the Walnut Log community in Tennessee, where they enjoyed the serene beauty and the peacefulness that only country living can bring. After 19 years of marriage, Sonny passed away on June 25, 2009, and a few years later, Denise returned to Jerseyville, where she could be closer to her loving family.
She is survived by two sisters and brothers in-law, Barbara and Ernie Ayres of Jerseyville and Brenda and David Smith of Staunton; two brothers and a sister in-law, Reggie and Pam Ruyle of Jerseyville and her twin brother, Dennis Ruyle of Brussels; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Schmidt; a brother and sister in-law, Larry and Cheryl Graham; and a niece, Julie Barnard.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Her cousin, Rev. Kim Bell, will officiate.
She will be laid to rest in Kane Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to her family to assist in the placement of a monument at her gravesite.
