David Charles Young Obituary

DAVID C. YOUNG

KANE - David C. Young, 77, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He was born on January 15, 1948, in Ogden, Utah, the son of the late Alfred David and Morlin Young. David spent much of his childhood in Virginia, growing up alongside his two sisters. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

David was united in marriage to Rosalee Quinn, and together they shared many years of love, laughter, and the blessings of family. He held a variety of jobs throughout his life, most notably working as a cook at the Catholic Children’s Home in Alton, a role he truly enjoyed prior to his retirement.

Outside of work, David found joy in the simple things. He loved spending time fishing and working on cars, always ready to lend a hand or share a story.

He is survived by his son, David E. Young, and daughter, April Stelbrink, both of Kane; and a sister, Kay, of North Carolina.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Rosalee, he was preceded in death by two step-sons, Chris and Shawn Quinn; and a sister.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A graveside service will follow at Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville, with full military honors provided by the Jerseyville American Legion Post #492.
