CRYSTAL (JOHNSON) ANGEL
Jerseyville - Crystal (Johnson) Angel, 53, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at Jersey Community Hospital, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born on January 25, 1973, in Alton, Illinois, Crystal was the beloved daughter of Gary Johnson and the late Rhanda (Bridges) Hotz.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Kevin Hotz; her grandparents, Curtis and Katie (Wahle) Johnson, and Kenneth and Delores (Drainer) Bridges; her aunts and uncles, George Johnson, James Bridges, Karen (Bridges) Will, Sherry (Carter) Johnson, and Jim Taylor; and her cousins, Christopher Lewis, Heather Johnson, and J.D. Carter.
Crystal was a hardworking, caring, and devoted mother .Her son, Kendall, was her world, and she would do anything she could for him. She also stepped into a motherly role for Kendra, offering love, support, and guidance whenever it was needed.
She also shared a beautiful and meaningful companionship with Todd Barfield, who stood beside her through life’s ups and downs and brought her comfort, laughter, and a sense of peace she truly valued.
Throughout her life, Crystal worked many jobs and touched countless lives, but nothing compared to her years working at Fran & Marilyn’s Restaurant. She brought laughter into the
workplace and created stories and memories that people would still be laughing about many years later.
Crystal was someone who didn’t want much in life other than to be surrounded by family and friends. Even in passing, her selflessness continued. Crystal chose to be a tissue donor to help
others. Learning about the lives she was able to help reminds us that she continues to live on through the lives she touched.
She is survived by her son, Kendall Angel of Jerseyville; her daughter, Kendra (Angel) Sibley of Jerseyville; her father and stepmother, Gary and Renee (Carter) Johnson of Fieldon; and her siblings, Curt Johnson of Jerseyville, Sara Carter-Beauchamp of Alton, Zak Hotz, Mindy Hanneken, and Melanie Hill, all of Jerseyville; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor in lieu of traditional funeral services. Family and friends are invited to join in commemorating Crystal’s vibrant and fulfilled life at DJ’s Pub and
Grill in Jerseyville, Illinois, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
