Charles LaVern "Chuck" Huff, Jr. Obituary

CHARLES LAVERN “CHUCK” HUFF, JR.

CARROLLTON - Charles LaVern “Chuck” Huff, Jr., 68, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 16, 2025 in Greene County, Illinois, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

He was born on December 12, 1956, one of five children born to Charles LaVern and Mary Louise (Kelley) Huff, Sr. Chuck grew up in Macoupin County, surrounded by the love of a large and deeply rooted family. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work and the importance of enjoying the simple pleasures of life - principles he carried with him throughout his years.

On June 24, 1978, Chuck married the former Karen Lair, and together they built a life and raised their two children in Greene County. Providing for his family and creating lasting memories with them was always his greatest joy.

Chuck worked as a mechanic at Blackorby Automotive and Ford Motor Company in Jerseyville, as well as Morrow Brothers Ford in Greenfield. He later became a laborer with Babor Masonry and Tuckpointing before rounding out his working years as a handyman alongside Heidi Miller. He was skilled with his hands and always willing to help others, never afraid to tackle a project.

He found peace and joy in the outdoors - whether it was working on cars, hunting, fishing, or four-wheeling. Family was always at the center of his world, and even on the day of his accident, he lived fully, spending time with those he loved most - swimming in the creek at Huff Lane, riding four-wheelers, and making memories that will last forever.

Surviving are his mother, Mary Huff of Alton (formerly of Medora); his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dustin Crocker of Carrollton; his son, Jeremy Huff and his companion, Kristi Walkington of Jerseyville; four grandchildren, Logan Shaw, Kelsie Shaw, Bailey Huff and Abel Huff; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Paulette Huff of Jerseyville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ronda and James Stephenson of Alton and Carrie “CJ” Huff of Alton; as well as his girlfriend, Peggy Fudge of Carrollton.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Huff on May 15, 2011; his father, Charlie Huff on November 9, 2017; and a brother, Michael Huff, who died tragically in an automobile accident on June 4, 2004.
