Charles Wisnasky Obituary

JERSEYVILLE – Charles Clarence Wisnasky, 66, passed away unexpectedly at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on December 13, 1957 in Highland, Illinois, the youngest of fourteen children born to the late Joseph Michael and Emeline Elizabeth (McCain) Wisnasky.

He grew up in Marine, Illinois and enlisted with the United States Army on February 18, 1975, serving our Country honorably until his discharge on February 13, 1978.

He married the former Jeannie Sue Kovach on December 12, 1986 in Edwardsville and together they made their home in Jerseyville, where they raised their family. Throughout their 29 years of marriage, they were blessed with many wonderful memories together, prior to her passing on July 26, 2016.

Charles worked tirelessly to provide the best possible life for his family, retiring after 30 years of service with Steak n’ Shake Restaurant Group in Chesterfield, Missouri, where he served as a Production Trainer.

He enjoyed watching True Crime shows and was a lover of horror movies – the cheesier the better!

His passing will certainly leave a void in the hearts of his children and grandchildren, all of whom he loved unconditionally.

Surviving are two daughters and sons in-law, Melissa and Andrew Sampson of Jerseyville and Melinda and Joshua Carpenter of Jacksonville; a son, Michael Wisnasky of Jerseyville; four grandchildren, Joshua Jr., Brandy, Charles and Hannah; as well as a sister and brother in-law, Sylvia and Lloyd Pendegraft of Summerfield.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Wisnasky; ten brothers, Benjamin, George, James, Leto, Donald, Joseph, Allan “Buckwheat”, Francis, Michael and William; two sisters, Sybil Ferguson and Shirley Castle; as well as his father in-law and mother in-law, Alex and Norma Kovach.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Graveside services will follow at 1:15 p.m. at St. Francis Cemetery in Jerseyville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family, for the benefit of Charle’s son, Michael, in care of the funeral home.
