Charles Edward Wade Obituary

CHARLES WADE

Jerseyville - Charles Edward Wade, 65, passed away at 2:07 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born on February 16, 1960 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Charles and Dorothy (Harrower) Wade.

A true outdoorsman, Charles found the greatest joy with a fishing pole in his hand, casting line and making memories on the water.  Whether it was a quiet morning at his favorite fishing hole or a weekend trip with family and friends, he was happiest with the sun on his face and the tug of a fish on the line.

He had a gift of tinkering and could fix just about anything with an engine. From cars to lawnmowers, if it had moving parts, he could make it run again–often with a few extra bolts left over and a story to go with it. His love for mechanics was more than just a hobby; it was a way to lend a helping hand.

Charles never met a stranger.  With a warm smile, a firm handshake, and a story for every occasion, he made friends everywhere he went. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his laughter and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Above all, he loved his family with his whole heart. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, always putting his loved ones first and making sure they knew how much they meant to him.  His legacy of love, hard work, and generosity will live on it the hearts of those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Wade of Jerseyville, IL.;  three daughters, Jennifer Wade of Jerseyville, Mallory Wade of Washington State, and Casey Wade of Carbondale, IL.; a brother and sister in-law, Jim and Van Wade of Alaska; and two grandchildren, Amelia Miller of Jerseyville, IL. and Whitten Dunham of Alton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Wade.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 4 pm until time of funeral services at 7 pm at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 10 a.m..
