It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles “Ed” Edward Davis, Jr., age 72, of Kane on March 16, 2026.
Ed was born on October 8, 1953 in Carrollton, Illinois, the son of the late Charles and Thelma Davis. Ed graduated from Jersey Community HIgh School, after which he attended Ranken Technical School. He married his lifelong love and friend on August 4, 1972 at the early age of 18. They spent over 53 years loving one another through the ups and downs of life.
Ed was a hard worker who enjoyed being outdoors. He liked to go hunting, fishing, rock hunting and mushrooming with his children and grandchildren. Ed was known for his kindness and deep love for his family. Josh, his son, considered Ed to be his best friend. His daughter, Jessica, says they broke the mold with her dad. John Heitzman, his special nephew, considered Ed his mentor.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his daughter, Jessica Rimbey; his son, Joshua (Callie) Davis; his nephew, John (Elaine) Heitzman; and his much loved grandchildren: Blake and Reese Rimbey, Madilynn and Hannah Davis. He also leaves behind his siblings: Paula Davis, Cynthia (Larry) Mockton and Richard (Julie) Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Jane Heitzman and good friends, Steve Kramer and Dick Hagen.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Thelma (Briggs) Davis and his father-in-law, Fred Heitzman.
