JERSEYVILLE - It is with great sadness that the family of Cecil Hail "Junior" Weible announce the passing of their beloved brother at the age of 58, on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Perryville, Missouri on July 10, 1966 and was the son of Cecil Hail and Nina Marie (Dunham) Weible Sr.

He graduated from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, with Class of 1984, where he participated on the Panther football and wrestling teams. He later went on to attend Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois.

For more than 25 years he was employed with STL Laborers Union Local 42, working in asbestos abatement, retiring due to his health.

Junior was a man of many interests, and he loved God. In his younger years, he loved participating in sports, and enjoyed watching sports, and was a faithful Miami Dolphins fan, along with cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues.

He was an avid outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and was an avid deer hunter.  He loved being outside barbecuing for friends and family and was notoriously known for grilling a mean steak.

He is survived by three sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara and Samuel Wrigley of Jerseyville, Sarah Weible of Godfrey, and Linda and Ed Drainer of Jerseyville; his only niece, Hayley Wrigley of Jerseyville;  along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Nina Marie and Richard "Dick" Marshall, and his father, Cecil Hail Weible Sr.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Steve Helfrich will officiate.

He will be laid to rest alongside his father at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in care of the funeral home.

Cecil was a simple, quiet man.  He believed in standing up for what was right, no matter the cost. He was a beloved brother to his sisters and to his friends.  It has been said that when you call someone a brother, it means you love them like family. Cecil was blessed with lots of family. The good of his life was quiet and steady, and his family and friends will long be swept up in it.
