Carrie Sue (Maltimore) Stephens

JERSEYVILLE – Carrie Sue Stephens, 79, passed away at 9:45 a.m., Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Jerseyville Manor. 

She was born on March 26, 1945 in Jerseyville and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Cummings) Maltimore. 

She married Buddy Wayne Stephens on September 27, 1963 and together they were the parents of a son, Richard Wayne Stephens, and shared in 30 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 16, 1994. 

Carrie enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her flowers. She also loved her former pets, who preceded her in death. 

Surviving are a son, Richard Stephens; a grandson, Alex; a sister, Linda Maltimore; a brother in-law, John Baker III; a sister in-law, Barb Maltimore; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Lou Baker; a sister, Joann Maltimore; three brothers, Gilbert Maltimore, Howard “Bud” Maltimore and Larry Maltimore; a sister in-law, Mary Maltimore; and a nephew, Joe Maltimore. 

Per her wishes, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband in a private service at the Newbern Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to 5A’s Animal Shelter in Godfrey, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052, who has been entrusted with arrangements.
