BARBARA DARR

JERSEYVILLE – Barbara Ann Darr, 74, passed away at 4:21 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Born on December 31, 1950, in Alton, Illinois, Barbara was the daughter of the late Raymond and Bernice (Owens) Tingley. She grew up in Alton, graduating in 1968 from Marquette Catholic High School.

On August 28, 1970, Barbara married the love of her life, Gregory Louis Darr, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. Their marriage was blessed with two children and countless cherished memories.

Barbara dedicated her life to her family and community. She worked as an in-school suspension teacher for Alton Community Unit School District #11 before joining BJC Healthcare, where she spent many years in Patient Accounts at Alton Memorial Hospital and Christian Hospital Northeast. After her retirement, she continued serving others by volunteering at the Jersey Community Hospital Foundation Resale Shop in Jerseyville.

Barbara enjoyed an active and fulfilling life. She loved golfing and cherished her time with her card club friends at Westlake Country Club in Jerseyville. She had a special place in her heart for children, spending man happy hours as a little league scorekeeper.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Greg Darr of Jerseyville; her two loving children, Katie Towell of Fieldon and Nick (Gina) Darr of Sachse, Texas; and her five beloved grandchildren, Gregory, Danny and Lauren Towell and Alannha and Brycen Darr.

A private burial will take place at Elsah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Jersey Community Hospital Foundation, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052, who has been entrusted with arrangements.

Barbara’s family and friends will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
