ANITA HOWARD
GODFREY – Anita Kay Howard, 69, passed away at 7:35 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024 at her home.
She was born on March 20, 1955 in St. Elmo, Illinois and was the beloved daughter of the late Dale Franklin and Mary Lee (Ledbetter) Pasley.
Anita grew up in St. Elmo and graduated from St. Elmo High School. She was a loving mother to her three children, a cherished grandmother to her three grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to her three great-grandchildren. Her love for her family was the center of her life, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she held dear.
In her early years, Anita worked in the daycare setting, caring for children in both Brownstown and St. Elmo. She moved to Cottage Hills in 1989, where she found joy working as a cook and hostess at Chico’s in Wood River. It was there that she met her future husband, Michael Howard. The couple married in the summer of 1993 at the Bethalto Christian Church, and together they made their home in the countryside of Jersey County.
Anita will be remembered for her kind heart, devotion to her family, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and care that will continue to be felt by her loved ones.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she reunited with her beloved daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Kophazy; her parents, Dale and Mary Lee Presley and her niece, Laura Pasley.
