ALICE MAE EDMISTON

JERSEYVILLE – Alice Mae Edmiston, 77, passed away at 9:40 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at her home in Jerseyville, under the care of BJC Hospice.

She was born on May 17, 1946 in Jersey County and was the daughter of William and Leona (King) Watson and was a 1965 graduate of Jersey Community High School.

She married Virgil Franklin Edmiston on January 18, 1964 at the Assembly of God in Winchester, and together they were blessed two sons and 58 years of marriage, prior to his passing on December 5, 2022.

Always seeking to lift up those around her, her career as the Activity Director at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was a perfect fit.

Surviving are a son and daughter in-law, Timothy and Mechelle Edmiston of Jerseyville; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Watson of Tampa, Florida and Dennis Watson of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Leona Mainard; her father and step-mother, William and Katherine Watson; her beloved son, Virgil Alan Edmiston on December 14, 2016; three brothers, William Edward Watson in infancy, Vernon Watson and Russell Watson; as well as two brothers in-law, Richard and Harvey Edmiston and two sisters in-law, Cindy Wyatt Herring and Ada Herring.

Visitation will be held on from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday.

Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Fidelity.
